WHAT
WE DO
PROGRAMS & PROJECTS.
Supports the Illinois Seal of Biliteracy
that is an award approved by the Illinois State Board of Education in recognition of students who have studied and attained a high level of proficiency in one or more languages, in addition to English, by high school graduation.
Multilingual Chicago committees will work with the City of Chicago to showcase and celebrate the many different languages and cultural communities in the city.
Helps Create pathways to the Seal of Biliteracy
Participating schools or school districts design “pathways” to the Seal of Biliteracy. Pathways may begin as early as preschool and continue at selected levels in elementary and high school.
Launches community dialogues
that involve residents in identifying and publicizing community language resources and activities through annual forums.
Recognizes the many languages spoken
in the City of Chicago by creating and developing partnerships with the City of Chicago, the City Colleges of Chicago, local universities, and the Chicago Public Schools as a means of promoting multilingual skills among our citizens.
